Reading your bible is a good thing to do. It’s not a novel or a magazine article. The bible is the living word. Reading the bible should affect you and change you. There becomes a transformation within you. Living the Word is better than reading the bible.
We should strive to not only know the Word of God, but also live according to His Word. We should become living bibles and when we open our mouths the Holy Spirit fills it with truth. God’s truth.
Don’t study the Bible to be able to quote it, instead, study it to obey it.
When Paul wrote “I am humble in person, but bold to you when gone” (2 Corinthians 10:1), he was not saying his words or his sermon or his performance become bold and remembered, but the true gospel that fills your heart and stays with you. Paul was saying that he hopes the Holy Spirit will bring to you truth, conviction, correction and transformation.
“Whoever has ears, let them hear,” Jesus said (Matthew 13:9). The Holy Spirit grabs hold of you. Go deeper. Don’t let the truth just tickle your ears and then drift away. It’s one thing to know what the Bible says, but also let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1). Do what the Bible commands. Be doers of His Word, more than hearing or reading.
2 Corinthians 10:1-2 (CSB)
Bold in My Absence
1 Now I, Paul, myself, appeal to you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble among you in person but bold toward you when absent. 2 I beg you that when I am present I will not need to be bold with the confidence by which I plan to challenge certain people who think we are living according to the flesh.Philippians 2:12-13 (MEV)
Shining as Lights in the World
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but so much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For God is the One working in you, both to will and to do His good pleasure.
