Breathe Retreat

I wrote this at Breathe Retreat, “a 12-hour, fully interactive and immersive worship experience” during live music, and then as Sandy James prayed for the gathering and began speaking to us during the morning Main Session. I credit Sandy’s words and give the glory to God for what I have written at that time and place:

The love you give is like no other.
We come to the one the father.
One in the church of Christ Jesus.
We belong, you are my portion.
Hallelujah!

Take the cup of bitterness from my lips.
Restore the oneness in my heart.
Open my eyes to your glory, always.
The love of joyous rejoice unfolds.

Peace and harmony is helping.
Stiff and bitter lead to death.
We call on your voice to lead the way.
Release the grace and remembrance of covenant.

I give it up, take my hand, lead my feet.
Restore the freedom and life.
I look to the tree of sacrifice as a model of my own.
Reaching the depths of my soul.

I am here, your servant and prize.
Just as suddenly I realize,
You’ve known me all along.
I’m glad we met, I’m glad you came into me.
Hallelujah!

His spirit strengthens me perfect.
Stay there where he wants me.
His purpose and goodness, reflect.
Shine upon my face, the light and grace.

We are holy holy in you.
Obey your word.
My cup overflows.
Your anointing shows.
The goodness of your plan.
As I follow the Son of Man.

Upon the tree,
There I see,
Who are we,
We are free.
Offer the seed,
As we bleed,
With you on the cross.
