The light at the end of the tunnel refers to the end of a difficult or unpleasant situation. It is a common phrase that we usually hear about a goal or preferred outcome to an earthly circumstance that might be used to describe perseverance in the journey or reward in the completion.
However, spiritually, it is a false mindset. Don’t be deceived. We are to worship in spirit and truth. Truth in Love.
Only a dark tunnel can have light at its end. The lure of light at the end is not of the tunnel, it’s of the world. It’s a lie sent to steal our focus. It’s a lie to help us not mind and accept the darkness. God gives us the fresh fire to burn it out.
The WAY that Jesus preached is knowing the light, not finding the light. He is the light of the world (John 8:12). We are to be walking in His light. God gives us the light on our feet.
As for the end of the tunnel, there is no end in Christ. Where you are shall be lit so bright that no beginning or end can be seen. You know that you know where the Holy Spirit dwells, there is light. Be the tunnel, but only filled with so much light that there is only light and no more tunnel.
Matthew 5:14 (NLT)
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”John 8:12 (NKJV)
When Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”1 Thessalonians 5:5 (NKJV)
You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.Psalm 18:28 (NIV)
You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
my God turns my darkness into light.Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
Be directed to our dearest friend, Jesus, who invites us to draw near — not to a light at the end of the tunnel, but to the blazing light in the darkness.
Another way to think, darkness is a metaphor for being separate from the world we know and understand. That he dwells and operates in the dimension of the (mortally) unknown.
Isaiah 60:1-2 (NKJV)
1 Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.2 Samuel 22:29 (NKJV)
For You are my lamp, O Lord; The Lord shall enlighten my darkness.
John Piper says: … Cry out to the Lord for help. That is what I did over and over again. He won’t let you be tested beyond what you are able, but with the testing — you know, we usually translate that temptation, and we almost always think of sex. The word pierosmos means testing as well as temptation. “He will not let you be [tested] beyond your ability, but with the [testing in the family] he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
I have seen light at the end of tunnels that seemed impossibly dark. So that is God’s answer to that promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13. He will make an opening at the end of this tunnel. Trust me. Hold on. Don’t doubt me in the dark. I am a God of light, and I will be with you.
